My friend, Jennifer Symmes, told me your story and ask me to give from my heart. I did just that. I want to let you know that I will also be praying for you and your family. My brother and I have both had malignant melanomas removed, and now we keep a never close eye on our bodies. We also lost a grandfather to melanoma about 13 years ago. Please stay optomistic and brave.

You labored manfully for the salvation of souls. In union with Jesus crucified, you endured painful sufferings with such patience as to deserve to be healed miraculously of an incurable cancer in your leg by a touch of His divine hand.
Obtain for me the grace to answer every call of God and to fulfill His will in all the events of life. Enkindle in my heart a consuming zeal for the salvation of all men.
Deliver me from the infirmities that afflict my body (especially…..).
Obtain for me also a perfect resignation to the sufferings it may please God to send me, so that, imitating our crucified Savior and His sorrowful Mother, I may merit eternal glory in heaven.

Prayer to Saint Peregrine
O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.
For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.

St. Peregrine was born in 1260 at Forlì, Italy to an affluent family. He lived a comfortable life as a youth, and politically opposed the papacy. After he experienced the forgiveness of St. Philip Benizi, he changed his life and joined the Servite order. He was ordained a priest, and later returned to his home to establish a Servite community. There he was widely known for his preaching, penances, and counsel in the confessional. He was cured of cancer, after he received a vision of Christ on the cross reaching out His hand to touch his impaired limb. He died in 1345 and was canonized in 1726. He is the patron of cancer patients.

Hi Naomi.
My mother, Debbie Rembo, worked with your mother at Turtle Hook middle school. Two weeks ago I was on the phone with her and in the middle of our conversation she interrupted me just to tell me that she loved me, to remember how unpredictable life can be and to smile as much as I can. Hearing the vulnerability and sadness in her voice made me understand that you just never know what the next day can bring. This wake up call made me realize that if an innocent, successful, happy and healthy woman can one day wake up to this situation, then what could prevent it from happening to me. Especially since I have voluntarily put myself at a high risk for so long. I hung up the phone with my mother and thought about you all night. That next morning I quit smoking after 13 years. Cold turkey. My family and I thank you for inspiring me to try as best as I can to live a healthy and happy life. And I smile everyday.

we had so much fun today with Jake! He played with his favorite “jet”, jumped on my bed, and ran around outside. The boys all took a shower in the sprinkler, and Justin asked if Jake could spend the night. Jake ate ALL his dinner and then asked for his “treat” When I told him it was time to go home he said “NO not yet!” but he was very excited to see Nik at home.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Losing her is such a great loss. I am so sorry for your pain.
We met Naomi almost five years ago when we were looking for a photographer for our wedding. When we met, we knew right away she was “the one”, not only because she was truly excited to take part in our special day, but because we had an instant connection. Throughout the process she bent over backwards to make sure we captured every moment and for that I will be forever grateful. Her smile, her laugh and her spirit were infectious and I cannot express to her family how sorry I am that she is gone.
To her family and close friends, you already know what a phenomonal person she was, but there are hundreds of brides and families in the Jacksonville area that will be forever grateful that she was the one to capture and document some of the most special moments in our lives.
Thank you for everything Naomi,,, you will be missed!

I am so sorry to hear about your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. As anyone knows who even met her briefly…she could light up a room and her enthusiasm, laugh and smile was contagious. She was a fighter and fought till the end and now God took her home to be one of his angels to look down on her family and friends. My heart breaks for everyone, especially Nik and Jake. I had never met a couple like Nik and Naomi and can only hope to one day have a relationship like theirs. Jake had the best mommy in the world and I’m sure he knows how much she loves him. She was an AMAZING person and I am blessed to have known her, even though it was only briefly. Rest in Peace, Naomi
I met Naomi only once, at the event in her honor, and her love of life was so incredibly evident. All her family and friends that were there to support her gave testimony to the person she was. At her funeral my husband & I mourned as if we knew her all our lives. My heart goes out to Nick and Jake who will cherish her in their hearts forever. The Rabbi at the service said many touching words but the ones that will stay with me always were;
“Breathing Blessing, Living Light”. To have lived to personify these words is something the rest of us can only hope for.
You will be missed, Naomi, rest in peace!
